FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 4, 2024
The National APIDA Panhellenic Association Announces Departure of Beta Chi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
The National APIDA Panhellenic Association (NAPA) is announcing the departure of Beta Chi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated from our council, effective immediately. This decision comes after the fraternity’s notice to part ways with the association. The decision, effective November 18, 2023, comes after careful consideration and discussions among the fraternity’s leadership.
This departure is not taken lightly, and Beta Chi Theta Fraternity, Inc. expresses deep appreciation for the collaborative efforts and shared experiences during its time as a member of NAPA. The decision aligns with the fraternity’s commitment to continually assess its affiliations and ensure that they align with its mission set forth by their Founders. The fraternity wishes the National APIDA Panhellenic Association and its member organizations the best in all their endeavors.
Beta Chi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and their undergraduate chapters are no longer part of the association and therefore, will no longer be subject to NAPA’s Open Expansion policy which aims to:
- Educate undergraduate chapters about the benefits of open expansion and the growth of the fraternity/sorority community at their respective institution.
- Ensure that when a NAPA member organization would like to expand to a campus at which there already exists NAPA member organizations, full support will be given to the interested organization.
- The support which will include, but shouldn’t be limited to, will be:
- Supporting and voting to approve the opening of expansion to the council in which NAPA organizations maintain membership in good standing.
- Voting Yes to allow the interested NAPA member organization to charter (may not abstain).
We wish Beta Chi Theta Fraternity, Inc. success as they continue to operate and grow. While they may no longer be a part of NAPA, we encourage all organizations to collaborate with organizations that share our values and commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community.
